Style And Influences:

I have been influenced by many musicians and guitarists over the years. However, my main influences have always been David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Steve Rothery (Marillion), Steve Hackett (Genesis), Steve Howe (Yes), Earl Slick (David Bowie), John McGeoch (Siouxsie And The Banshees) The Beatles, The Beach Boys as well as more contemporary bands like Joy Division, The Chameleons, The Psychedelic Furs to name but 3.

My style of playing is firmly Blues based with a “Less Is More” attitude, I’m not a “shredder”, My fingers just don’t move that fast. However I have embraced the use of effects to enhance my sound and use delay, chorus etc to great effect.

I have played many styles over the years, everything from Ceilidh, Folk to Punk and everything in between.

Band Work:

1984 – 1986 Harlequin Fools

Harlequin Fools were an original Indie/Alternative band in the same vain as Echo And The Bunnymen. Played extensively in and around Romford mostly at the Rezz and The Square in Harlow.

1988 – 1992 English Miracle

English Miracle were an original Prog/Alternative rock band producing music that drew influences from Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Marillion, Genesis. They played only original material and played in and around London, mostly at venues such as The Rock garden and The Square. Although they didn’t actually break up there were personnel changes and they became……

1992 – 1996 Incubus

Named after the Marillion song of the same name, Incubus started off playing more Progressive music more akin to Marillion and Pink Floyd. However, after 2 years the band decided to concentrate on performing more covers and eventually became a highly respected Pink Floyd tribute band.

The band played all the usual haunts like the Cauliflower in Ilford, The Parkside in Romford and also performed to sell out audiences at the Thameside Theatre in Grays. At this time the band had ballooned to an 11 piece and were performing full Pink Floyd sets including complete performances of Darkside Of The Moon. During this period I was the principal guitarist handling 90% of the Gilmour parts.

2000 – 2005 Bad Habits

Bad Habits were a rock covers band based in Braintree, Essex. They covered music from many artists including Cheryl Crow, Robbie Williams, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, The Kinks, Dandy Warhols, Bryan Adams. The vocal duties were split fairly equally with myself handling the lead on about 1/4 of the material most notably Bowie and The Kinks.

I left in 2005 to follow other avenues and to persue more dep and session work.
